Substance Use Disorder and the Impact on the Workplace PSY 5101 (4 Hours)
This course is being offered in partnership with Penn State Fayette. Topics include an overview of substance use disorder; how to recognize potential substance use and abuse; the impact it has on family members and the workplace; and strategies and approaches for talking with employees and co-workers. Learning activities include steps to mitigate risks as an employer; tools and resources for an employer; and how to conduct a reasonable suspicion interview.
Respectful Communication CPE 8209 (3 Hours)
This course builds awareness of what constitutes respectful communication in the workplace and the costs associated with incivility, disrespect, or bullying behavior. Through experiential and case-based learning activities, participants generate examples of respectful and disrespectful communication and practice handling interactions respectfully.
Retaining Employees CPE 8313 (3 Hours)
This course is designed to increase awareness of the real costs organizations incur with the unwanted turnover of employees and to provide information helpful in maximizing retention of talented employees. Learning activities include examining the "controllable" reasons for voluntary turnover and how retention decisions are affected by the organization's selection, orientation, and performance management processes.
